Mixology 101
The instructions on the lids for our cans of French Market Coffee & Chicory
recommend using 1/2 to 1/3 as much of our blended C&C as you
would when brewing pure coffee. We figure that's a helpful hint for
those new to the flavor of New Orleans in a cup, but prefer not to get
more specific or exact in how you take your coffee. Preference is,
after all, what it's all about.
In the spirit of personal taste, we've decided to post assorted
recipes from those of you who make our coffee your very own. For now,
were giving a few suggestions to get you started.
Take some of our outstanding pure coffee [Dark Roast Pure or Café New Orleans for starters] then reduce your mix by one tablespoon, and add one tablespoon of our Coffee & Chicory. Test this out using different coffee ratios.
Use our Cold Water Brewing System to make a delicious "concentrate"
that you can use to warm [or ice] an exceptional Café Au Lait. Equal
parts hot coffee and hot milk will get you there with regularly brewed
coffee or coffee and chicory. With concentrate, remember to dilute the
coffee or use just a splash of concentrate with a whole lot of milk.
Blend it with vanilla ice cream to make the best tasting "coffee shake" in the world. A dash of chocolate doesn't hurt either.
Many of the
mixes and recipes we are receiving are for foods rather than beverages.
We're so excited about this new look at using the flavor of New Orleans
in your kitchen that we're launching a Recipes section in ourVirtual Coffee Cafe. Be on the lookout for this new French Market feature.
In the meantime ...
You can also use this concentrate as a substitute for Kahlua in a cake or other recipe that you wish to serve as non-alcoholic.
When our Chairman of the Board tried the Coffee & Chicory Glazed
Quail at Commanders Palace, New Orleans, he was told by one of the
owners that we at French Market Coffee would be surprised at how much
they use our coffee in different recipes.
He likes putting a little on a steak before he puts it on the grill. Its also great in sauces and marinades, gravies etc.
Blending coffee is an easy way to add the variety to your morning,
noon and night that gives daily life a little extra spice. Please send us your favorite recipes so we can share them with others
Enjoy!
